Camouflages (2021)

In Camouflages, sound continually deceives the listener by disguising itself as something else, as if in a perpetual state of camouflage. These sonic camouflages often obscure our natural listening processes, generating strange and unique aural perspectives. Instinctually, we expect the sound of a spinning coin to reach its sudden and climactic end point. But what images, thoughts and feelings are evoked when it fails to reach this point, instead transforming into something seemingly unrelated?

Camouflages was performed through live spatial diffusion at Inhabitation, a performance event as part of the Site and Sound exhibition at McClelland Sculpture Park + Gallery.
