Waves Intersect (2017)
Waves Intersect is an immersive quadraphonic composition that explores the sound world of the beach. The piece was constructed with a large collection of audio material recorded from a variety of beaches throughout Victoria in 2017. Waves Intersect attempts to converge the many forms and materials that beaches possess into a turbulent audio superstructure that integrates multiple timeframes and viewpoints. The diversity of natural materials are exposed through sharp cuts and sudden morphs between contrasting sound textures. Dramatic shifts between various harmonic structures and atmospheric spaces emphasise the extensive range of emotional and physical impressions that the beach can carry.
Waves Intersect was presented at Bus Projects as part of the CLIP: Soundings exhibition.
